Do I need transit visa G to take the Trans Mongolian railway?

I am flying to Beijing from Australia, will be staying in Beijing for less than two days, then taking the Trans Mongolian train. I will therefore be in China for less than 72 hours. Do I need the transit G or the tourist L? Thank you.

Hi, both transit G and tourist L are ok for this visit. G type is easier if you have tickets booked in advance and visa to the destination country if required.
