About:Apply for China Visa in a Third Country

I am a USA citizen. Can I get a visa to China in Hong Kong?

I have visited China before on a tourist L. Can I get a multiple entry one in HK. I am planning on visiting S. Korea and Japan during the middle of My China trip.

Hi, it is difficult to get a multiple entry L in HK, but it is easy for you to get a single or double entry L there. Don't worry about this, because you can also apply for tourist L again when you are in Japan.

I do not have a letter from someone in China "inviting" me there and I do not have flights yet. Will this be a problem? Should I use an agent to get it for me or do it by myself. ALso, I fly in on the 23rd (mon) and was hoping to get it done that morning. The embassy is closed wed and thurs (25 and 26). Do you think i can get it done this week? Thanks!!

Rould-way ticket and hotel reservation are required if you apply for tourist L. So, you'd better prepare them in advance and apply through a travel agency using rush service.

Thanks for your advice. Do you think a train ticket or a ferry ticket works? I am not sure when exactly i going to arrive there but i think i will cross the border from Vietnam. Do the travel agencies offer this service and do they provide the "invite " letter? Are there any that you can recommend? thank you!

Yes, train ticket or ferry ticket is ok for application. If you book tours from a travel agency, then they are able to send you invitation letter with full itineraries. You can have a try to use this travelchinaguide for tours in China, or you can also find one in HK which provides international tour packages.
