About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Busan-Shanghai-Bangkok

Hello. I was wondering; I'm a US citizen. I'm planning a trip to Bangkok at the end of the year. I found a flight which has an 18-hour layover in Shanghai. Also there is another long layover in Shanghai coming back. Can I use the 72-hour visa free twice within a week?

How can I alert the airline that I will be doing this so they can make arrangements? Will I need to call them or can I e-mail them? I'll be purchasing tickets online.

You can inform them when you check in at the airport. If your stopovers are less than 24 hours each time, it is not necessary to do this at all, you can just handle this after arrival at the airport.
