About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

I will be flying from Busan to Jakarta and have 3 hours transit in Shanghai.

Do I need a visa if I only stay in the airport?

No, you do not need any kind of visa because your layover in Shanghai will be covered by 24 hour visa free transit. Also you do not have to perform any formality nor will you fill out any forms. You will not be a subject of immigration and/or customs inspections. It is so easy and straightforward. You will just walk from one to the other gate and all that you will encounter will be a security check. Have a nice journey.
