About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Busan - BJ - Rome

Hello. I plan to travel from Korea to Italy in July.
I will take flight CA730 at 19:45 on Monday, March 7 to Beijing Capital, and on Tuesday, March 8, I will take flight CA939 at 13:45 to Rome. Is it correct that I do not need a visa in this case?

Another question, do I have to be at the airport for 18 hours? can i go out? If I can get out, I'd like to book a place to stay. If I can't get out, is there room at the airport for 18 hours?

The first and the most important details is the fact that your itinerary does not require any kind of visa because you will be covered by 24 hour visa free transit. So, you do not need anything beside your flight tickets and your passport in this regard.

Upon arrival in Beijing, since your layover is very long, you will approach 24/144 hour visa free transit desk where you will apply, fo free, for a temporary entry permit to be allowed to exit the aiport and to have an overnight in the hotel in the city. You are advised to book a hotel in advance and to have a booking confimration with you. When you travel on 24 hour visa free transit it is up to the immigration official discretion if they will allow you to exit the airport, but with such a long transit time, especially during the night and with accommodation booking confirmation, your chances to be allowed to exit the airport are really very, very good.

By the way, I am not aware of a hotel at Beijing airport located airside.

You should also perform a home covid DIY test and have a photo of the negative result. Also, you will fill out, before your departure, a Chinese Health Declaration Form. You will be just fine :)
