Hello,I am a US citizen who will be travelling from Beijing to Xi'an on the high speed rail. I will be meet a Chinese citizen in China as my travel partner. Here is my question: If I order 2 rail tickets, can my Chinese friend pick them up in China at a rail station prior to my arrival? She would likely want to pick up the tickets in Nanning which is distant from Beijing. One ticket would be in her name and ID card number and the other ticket would be in my name with my passport number. Would she be able to pick up both tickets without me there?

yes, you can ask your friend to pick up the ticket for you, and it is available at any railway station within China. but, to pick up your ticket, she has to have the copy of your passpord.
