Do we require a visa for stopover in Shanghai for 64 hours from Sydney to Europe?

My husband and I are flying from Sydney to Helsinki/Zurich/New York and back to Sydney with stopover from 7pm on 7 Jan to 10am on 10 January in Shanghai en route to Europe. Do we need any paperwork for special 72 hour transit visa?

Hi, visa is not required if you are holding passports from listed 45 countries. You can inform your airline first for this request and they will email your information to the airport in advance so that the permit will be issued upon arrival. Your passport, flight ticket and visa to the destination country (if any) are required.
