Indian Passport Have 20 hours transit in Shanghai

Hello,
I've a stopover of 20 hours at the Shanghai airport which includes a whole night. Since airlines is providing us hotels, can we just get it or whatever it is called (I think Transit without visa) from the Immigration window at the airport and go and stay at the hotel ?
