We are British citizens. On 17/09/2025 from Cochin to Hong Kong booked. Plan to apply for 240 hour visa., to travel in mainland China. Then We return from Hongkong to London on 28/09/2025. Is there any fee at Hong Kong visa counter? Should we buy train/ travel tickets and accommodation booking prior to 240 hour visa. Are there left luggage in Hong Kong? Any other important things we should know?

You mean you will enter Mainland China from HK and go back to HK after the trip, then to London, right? If yes, I want to note that it’s not a qualified route for the 240h visa free transit, because it’s just a round trip between Mainland China and HK. Unless you travel back to London directly after Mainland China trip or make a detour in Macau before back to HK.

There is no visa called 240h visa. It's a preferential policy, and you don't need to apply in advance. Just deal upon arrival. For all about this policy, you can visit https://www.travelchinaguide.com/tour/visa/free-transit-144-hours.htm.

You can find self-service lockers at many MTR stations in HK to store your luggage. Or consult your hotel for left luggage service.
