About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

London -> Shanghai - > Phnom Penh

Hi, I'm flying from London to Shanghai. I am in Shanghai for 12hrs and then I have a flight from Shanghai to Phnom Penh. Am I right in thinking that on arrival in to Shanghai I can leave the airport? Do I clear customs and then get a transit permit from Shanghai airport, on showing my ticket to Phnom Penh? Does anyone know how long it takes to get the transit permit at the airport?

Many thanks
Sarah

Yes, you need to get a temporary entry permit (72 hours free transit). You already know how to apply for it. You just need to queue up and wait for the officer to stamp on your passport. It takes just around 2 minutes but you might need more time for queueing up.
