Hongkong Visit with only 5 months passport validity before expiry

My nephew , who is 9 years old is carrying a Filipino passport, and has a passport validity of 5 months, meaning expiring March 09, 2014. Together with his parents, he is planning to go Hongkong from October 27-31, 2013. Is it still ok on the hongkong side if the passport validity is only 5 months. Please confirm as they already have the plane tickets to travel, thank you very much.

I think he should contact the HK Immigration Department to confirm this. Personally, I don't think it is a problem. The six months period is required to apply for visas. However, people from the Philippines enjoy 14 days visa-free period in HK. So I personally think it's not a problem.
