Re entry to Guanzhou from Hong Kong

I am travelling to Guangzhou in October. If time permits, I may visit Hong Kong for 1 day or 2. Do I need a double entry visa so that I can re enter Guanzhou to fly back to Melbourne? Or can I re enter Gaunzhou on the single entry one?
