L or Q1 or Other Visa?
Hi, I am an American citizen married to a Chinese citizen. We are presently visiting in the USA and plan to return to PRC around Nov-Dec. My Chinese Temporary Resident Permit will expire before we return. I plan to apply for a new L type for my return to PRC. We own a home in Guilin, Guangxi and will be residing there. We do not have a return date to the USA, but assume maybe 5-6 months, depending on many variables not under our control, so we will arrive in PRC with no return air tickets. Although we have relatives in PRC we will not be residing with any of them and will be responsible for all our own financial obligations. I read the requirements and failed to locate any application directions for someone in our situation.
I would start with an L type for one year with multiple entries and after arriving apply for a Temporary Resident Permit. Would I still need to have someone in PRC write me an invitation letter? If so, could my wife write it, show our address as where we will reside and state she will be responsible for my financial obligations while in China? In place of a letter, hotel reservations, return plane tickets and her vouching for my finances, might a copy of our marriage book and her ID Card suffice? Please advise. Many thanks,
