About:Visa Policy of China

Visa Needed for 4 days to Shanghai?

I read this:
At the time of this writing, a Chinese visa is not required for a visit of up to 15 days for business, sightseeing, visiting relatives and friends or transit.
Western nationals do not require it.

I want to go to Shanghai for 4 nights to present a professional paper. I am American.
Do I need one?
