About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

multi destination flight

I'm booking a multi destination flight from Seoul to Beijing and from Beijing to Kuala Lumpar. Would I be able to use the visa exemption if I did it this way? I should also add the fact that there is a layover in Shanghai for each flight.

No, unless you transit directly via Beijing. But if each stop in China is less than 24 hours (including layovers in Shanghai and Beijing), you can enjoy free transit as well.
