Qualifications for Cambodians to get a China visa

Hi, my wife and I are planing to have a visit, I'm Canadian but my wife is Cambodian. I will be in Cambodia in Nov but we plan to visit around Dec. My wife has a valid passport, will she need other documents to qualify for application? We want to leave from Phnom Pehn, will both of us be able to get it from the Chinese embessy? or do I need to get mine from Canada? I will be returning to Cambodia after before i head back to Canada. I appreciate your help!

If you come to PRC for a visit, you both need to apply for L type ones. It requires valid passport, completed application form, a recent passport-size photo, round-trip air tickets and hotel booking in PRC. If you can provide invitation letter, round-trip air tickets and hotel booking are not needed.

You can apply from the Chinese embassy in Cambodia. Then you need to fill the supplementary form when you apply. Your wife might asked to provide travel insurance (100 USD per day).

Thomas,

Thanks for your response. It was really helpful to me as I am in a similar situation as Oliver. I was wondering if you knew what was required for the invitation letter. I have a friend living and working in Beijing. Is it as simple as just receiving a letter from him inviting me to stay with him for the dates of my journey, his address, visa and passport number?

cheers!

Hi Mike, the invitation letter should include the following items:
(1) Your personal information, such as name, gender, and date of birth.
(2) Purpose of the visit, travel itinerary such as date of entry and exit, places of visit, relationship between you and the inviter, and who will bear your travel expenses.
(3). Copies of inviter's passport information page, valid visa or residence permit.
