About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

240 hour visa free qualification

Would it be possible to travel from the UK to Dubai. Spend 4 days in Dubai then travel onto Chengdu for the World Games. Spend 8 days in Chengdu then leave to return to Manchester via a change over in Dubai?.

No, unfortunately, this is not possible. The basic rule of 240 hour visa free transit requires that the immediate points before and after mainland China are in two different countries or eligible territories (eligible territories are Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau). As you can see, both of your two immediate points are in one country - UAE. I suggest you to insert Hong Kong... In this way your entire journey would be: Dubai -Chengdu - Hong Kong -Dubai. That would be eligible for 240 hour visa free transit.
