can usa citizen get visa not in usa?

Question

I am a USA citizen traveling around Europe. Can I get one here from Europe or do I have to go back to USA for that?? I really do not want to fly back just for application.

Hi, the fact is that you have to apply in a country of residence. To apply Chinese visa in a third country is getting difficult now, so I am afraid you can not apply in Europe if you are a temporary visitor there. Anyway, you can confirm this with Chinese embassy/consulate or CVASC in the local place if any.
