About:Policy for Foreigners with Immediate Family Living in China

Is this possible to change the visa type in the country after September 1st?

I was wondering if this is possible for the one who is already in China. I'm having a L now and I wanna know if it's possible to apply for a Q or S type while I'm here (I have the required documents (marriage certificate), or I need to go back to go back and apply for another one from the embassy again?

May I know how long time was issued to your current L as duration of stay? and what about the entries? I read through the new regulation, the conversion of types are allowed even after September 1st.

Since I wanted to apply for a residence permit, I chose the cheapest option and applied only for normal L that's a 3months validity with 30days duration of stay and single entry. I'll be arriving late August so I dunno if I can still apply for a residence permit with the current situation after the execution of the the rules. In that case I'd apply for a Q1 and then a residence permit! IMO China has the most complex and vague immigration policies!!!

I have only a link to Chinese version of the article here (No.12 in the article chinalaw.gov.cn/article/fgkd/xfgwd/201307/20130700389275.shtml).
To Steve, I am not sure if your wife is a Chinese, if yes, I think it will not be a problem for you to get a long term L or the residence permit issued.
