assistance for day tourhotel accommodation for transit passenger in beijing

Question

I am US citizen traveling from Houston , Texas to Manila Philippines. I would like to find out if I need to get my check in baggages while in transit at Capital airport . How do I go about in taking a day tour from the airport ? I have 14 hours transit time . On my return flight , from Manila to Houston,Texas , I have an overnight lay over in BJ . I need assistance for tour and hotel accommodation. Thanks for your assistance.

For the luggage problem, if you have the connecting flights or using the flights of one airline for your two trips, in general, it is not necessary to claim your luggage and recheck in again. It is a good idea to go to the city area to have short visit. For hotel, I think Days Inn Forbidden City is a nice one, which is located in the city center area and easy for visiting Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City and the Wangfujing area.
