About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Staying 48 hours then cruising to japan then back to bejing for flight

I am flying from London to Bejing arriving the 5th Sept then boarding ship on the 7th Sept for cruise around Japan we land back in China on the 19th Sept for our flight back to London. We would like to spend some time on that day in Bejing before flight home. Can I use this 72 hour visa.

No, you need to apply for a Chinese visa in advance for your first entry. But when you return from Japan, if the flight back to London is leaving within 24 hours, you are allowed free entry.
