I am flying into Shanghai from Sydney. then I am going to transfer to a flight to Xian; where do I go

I agreee. You may arrive at Pudong Airport. But the planes to Xian may leave from Pudong or Hongqiao. Therefore, if it leaves from PVG, you can just have an international to domestic flight transit. If it is Hongqiao, you can take shuttle bus line 1 or local subway line 2 to get to catch your plane.0

It depends on your ticket, either PuDong Airport station or HongQiao Airport station, you can take Metro Line 2 to get there, then take the plane to Xian.0
