About:China Student Visa

I am studying in Beijing this September and I want to take a trip to Taiwan.

However, I will not have enough time to get my Temporary Residence Permit. Will I still be allowed to enter the China mainland again?

No, the student X only allows one entry, you will not allowed to enter mainland again in this situation. So, you should better apply for residence permit asap after entry.
