American visiting in Tokyo-application

Hello,
I am American citizen visiting Tokyo these days and have an expired Chinese Visa. I plan to visit Beijing August 6-8 and wondered if I can apply for a new one while I am here in Tokyo? Is it possible?
I can come in person to Chinese Embassy in Tokyo.
Thank you
Geoff Williams

Hi, if you visit for 3 days only, you may enjoy 72 hr exemption if you make a transit via Beijing to a third country/region.
Anyway, you can apply for one in Tokyo, but as I know, you need to apply through a local travel agency instead.
