About:Transfer in T3 of Beijing Capital Airport

Transit time at Beijing and baggage question

Hi, will be taking Air China from JFK-SHA-PEK, will be transiting through PEK en route to SHA. My connecting time between flights is 2 hrs 10 mins, is that OK? Flight from JFK lands at 6:20 pm, flight to SHA departs at 8:30 pm. Is that enough?

Also, do I need to claim my bags in BJ and re-check them in?

I will be in business class, are there special lines for that? Thank you!

Just hurry up and time wil be sufficient.

You need to comsult your airline (Air China) whether you have the luggage check-through service. If so, it is not necessary to pick up the luggage and recheck it in at BJ. But as for the special line for business class passengers, I don't hear about that. You may consult the airport directly.

Great, thank you! I checked the Air China web site and I do indeed have the baggage check through service at BJ as I am coming from New York. So I can pick up my bags directly at Shanghai which is a big relief. Thanks for the info!

One more question - since I will have the baggage check through service, do I still need the full 2 hrs to transit at BJ? Air China has a slightly earlier flight but going to Pudong instead of SHA (old airport). If I took that one, the connection time is 1 hr, 40 mins. Is that too tight?

It still suggested to leave about 2 hours to make the transfer, so that you will not be in a hurry. I think an hour an 40 minutes is a little bit tight.
