is lianyungang a safe city?

Question

My 14 year old son will be in the city with his school group as part of an excursion from USA. Will they be safe?  Do they need to be particularly careful anything in particular? Pick pockets?

Please do not worry about it. That city is safe enough. You can tell him to put money or important things carefully in his bags and take care of the bag and no other problems needs to be paid attention to.
