About:Shanghai Travel

Myself (vietnamese) will have 20 hour stopover in Shanghai with my final destination being Vietnam. I want to stay for 1 night. Do I need to apply for transit visa before i arrive?

No, you don't need to apply for a transit visa in advance as long as you stay in the airport within your transit hours.

But i want to go out to see and stay in the city for one night? Can i get 1day permit at the immigration or do i have to apply for transit visa in advance?
