Student visa application duration

Dear Sir/Madam,
I wonder if you could answer the following:
- How long will it take to get a visit type one, or X type in Kabul, if all required documents you need has submitted?
- Do you keep the applicant's passport for the whole period of processing the visa, or the applicant can have his passport with him most of the time during this process?
