About:China Tourist Visa

Travel from Sydney to London via shanghai. Stay in shanghai >72 hrs. Do I need a visa?

I have Australian passport.

Yes, you need to get a Chinese G in advance for this transit.

Didn't a new law come in that applies to Australia on 1st Jan 2013 that says we dont need one if we transit through Shanghai within 72 hours on the way to London. You said we needed one but I have other information that says we dont need one. Who is correst?

Yes, but a transit G is required if your stopover in Shanghai is longer than 72 hours.
