Can I Get Out of Beijing Airport During my Flight From Delhi to Vancouver ?

Hi
I Will be travelling from Delhi to Vancouver via Beijing on 3rd June 2013, I Have a stopover of 23.50 Hours between my Flights, I have been given a Hotel confirmation by Air China, I want to ask if
(1) It is possible to go outside Airport or Hotel and visit local sites ?
(2) If yes, Do I need a Transit visa ?
(3) Is there any provision of getting a transit visa on arrival in China or do I need to get it prior to my travel

You needn't apply for a G type one in advance. According to the rule, you just need to apply for a stay permit after you land at the airport.
