Layover in Beijing with hotel offered by the airline

My daughter is flying to London via Beijing and due to a change in her flights by airline has now been offered accommodation at a hotel. Does this mean she needs to apply for a visa and if she does which one. She will be in Beijing for less than 24 hours.

Hi, it is not required if the stopover is less than 72 hours. She can apply for a transit permit after arriving at the airport. So, just inform the airlines about the transit request, so that they will send her arrival information via email in advance to the Entry Frontier Organization at Beijing Capital Airport.
