Is it common for a female dog to find compatability with a male dragon?

My husband is an (wood) dragon. We have been together for 17 years total and happily married for the latter 2 years. We have complete different frames of thought and outlooks, but still manage to find compromise and balance. The only thing we do have in common is our family values and the love of outdoors.
Is this common being that we are complete opposites (yin/yang) to thrive in a relationship and find balance??
