72 hr free visa to beijing

Question

My flight from California will arrive in Beijing on sept 11 at 1130 pm(almost midnight). my next flight to Manila is on sept  15 at 0100 am. Can I hang around the customs area on arrival until I get transit  permit by 0100 am (exactly 72 hrs) . I also planned  to go back to the airport at around 1000 pm on sept. 14 to catch my flight for 0100. I hope this is not a problem.Thanks

I am afraid not. The airlines will check the tickets when your board the plane. Once they noticed that the stopover is longer than 72 hours, you may be refused boarding. So, you'd better apply for a transit G in advance.
