About:Lhasa Travel

Travel to Lhasa and some problems needed to be solved

We plan to travel to Lhasa by our own. My questions are :
1. Do we need a special permit / visa for Australian citizenship? If yes, where can we obtain it?
2. If we want to go by train, from which city ( with the airport ) can I join the train?
3. How long will you recommend us to stay in Lhasa?

Please give a detail reply. Thank you.

Yes, to have a trip there, you have to apply for a Tibet Travel Permit in advance and your travel partners have to be the same nationality. But as I know, it is a little hard to succeed in applying for the permit this year. You'd better ask a travel agency about the details.

You can start your train from Beijing, Xian, Shanghai or Chongqing.

As you wanna have a DIY travel, I suggest you stay there and around for at least five days.

Thank you very much for your reply. Yes, this year the Tibetan Government does not give any permit to tourists. It's pity as I have booked the flight.
