China with a Korean ARC card

Hi, I'd like to visit China after completing my teaching contract in Korea where I currently hold an E2 visa that expires July 14, 2013. I heard that you cannot apply with less than 6 months on your ARC (alien registration card), but since I will have completed my contract, can I travel as a Canadian tourist on my (valid to 2017) Canadian passport?

I am afraid you can not get visa there if you will finish your contract soon. If possible, you are suggested to apply in HK or Japan.
