Is Transit Visa needed for less than 24 hours transit in Beijing?

Hi, I am holding a Thai passport but a Singapore Permanent Residence. I will be travelling to USA with my family who are all Singaporeans on Air China. However, the transit time is very long of about 16 hours. Do I need to get one to exit the airport until the departure time?

Thank you

You enjoy 24 hours free transit in Beijing. But you need to get the stay permit at the Inspection office when you arrive if you want to walk out of the airport.
