How can my husband and I get from Pudong Airport to Astor House Hotel Shanghai? Can we go by train and then a taxi to the hotel?

Yes, you are right. You can take the local subway line 2 to reach East Nanjing Road Station and then take a taxi to reach your hotel directly.
