traveling from shanghai to nanjing

Hi, It is my first time to China, I am supposed to attend a conference in the NJ University.The workshop venue is Computer Science Building in the University (Xianlin Campus).And I will probably stay at a recommended hotel by the conference managers New Era Hotel as they say it is the closest to the campus.I am planning to fly to Shanghai (PVG airport) then take the train. It just confuses me there are many stations in both shanghai and NJ. the website says line 5 goes from shanghai airport to the station. is this the main station? I would like some help on which stations should I use as my departure and arrival stations when booking the train.I would also like any suggestions for hotels other than the new era.. or is it really the best choice?Thanks very much,Yomna

As far as I know, the New Era Hotel is very close to the Gulou Campus, but a little bit far from Xianlin Campus. But it is really a best choice to stay. As the New Era Hotel is suggested by the managers, I think they will arrange a car to take you to reach the Xianlin Campus.Anyway, to travel from the hotel to Xianlin Campus, you need take a taxi or walk to the around 1.5km away Xinjiekou MTR Station, where you can easily take the subway line 2 to Xianlin Campus of NJ University Station. From Shanghai to NJ, there are two kinds of trains, G-trains and D-trains. Generally, trains between departing from Shanghai Railway Station, which can be reached by taking the airport shuttle bus line 5, will arrive at NJ Railway Station. Trains departing from Shanghai Hongqiao Raiway Station, which can be reached by taking the local subway line 2, will take you to NJ South Railway Station.
