About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Taipei via PEK

I am flying from Seoul to Taipei and connecting via PEK. My layover is 18 hours, will this work? Even though China claims Taiwan theirs. How does when apply with the airline? I have read the comments about doing it on board the plane, has anyone had success with this?

It is ok, you qualify for this free transit policy if you have confirmed ticket to your destination. According to the regulation released by the authority, your airline company is responsible to report your transit need to Chinese immigration inspection office, so you'd better contact your airline for the detailed procedure.
