China visa in Japan.

British citizen, alien registration runs out this March. Can I still get a tourist visa to visit China on the way home?

Hi, formerly they only issue visa to AR card holders with validity of more than 6 months. So you need to contact a travel agency for the latest requirements. Or, if you make any Beijng or Shanghai a transit for less than 72 hours on your way home, visa is not required.
