Can I leave the airport for 12 hours? Do I need a VISA?

Hi,
I'm flying Air China to Sweden. I have a 15 hour transfer in Beijing and want to book into a hotel for the night until my flight continues the next day. Can I leave the airport for approximately 12 hours?
Thanks, Ann

Hi, visa is not required if you transit in Beijing for less than 72 hours. Also, you can go out of the airport to the city with a transit permit available at the airport.
