swede apply for chinese visa in australia?

Hi! I am swedish student currently residing in Launceston, Tasmania. I have planned to go to travel to Beijing and stay for a week before I go home. There is no chinese embassy in Tasmania, do i have to go to Melbourne myself to apply for a visa or how does it work?
