Invitation letter from my daughter

I plan to visit my daughter in Shanghai March 4 through March 20. For my visa you require an invitation letter. Is a copy of an email from my daughter acceptable? Is a copy of her identification that is scanned and sent by email acceptable?

Well, a copy, fax or printout of an invitation letter is OK. A copy of her indentification is acceptable but I think you should print it out. She might have also to offer her passport, visa, residence permit. Proof for relationship is also required.

If invitation letter is difficult for you, you may offer the Round-trip flight ticket and hotel reservation to apply for L visa.

Jane, thank you for your answer. I need clarification about the proof of relationship.
My inviter is my daughter, an American citizen, who lives in China. She lives there because her husband works for an American business. In your answer to me earlier today, you said I will, also, need proof of relationship. Her legal last name is Sanchez-Jones. My last name is Sanchez. Is that enough proof or do I need a copy of her birth certificate?

Hi, you'd better prepare her birth certificate for application if the officer asks for that.
