About:China Visa on Arrival

US and German Passorts, Emergency Shanghai Visit

Are US and German passport holders eligible for the on arrival visa when visiting Shanghai for an emergency business matter (ex, to supervise the inspection of import and export commodities) within 24 hours?

Hi, no visa on arrival to mainland China is available. But if you make this Shanghai trip a transit by international flight leaving within 72 hours(e.g, NY - Shanghai - HK), you may enjoy the new visa-free policy. Otherwise, you both need to apply for Chinese visa in advance.
