Do I need a visa to leave Beijing airport during ur 24 hours stopover/layover?

I hold a Philippine passport and have a UK residence card as well, me and my Polish husband have this return international flight from Manila-Beijing(24hours stopover)-Amsterdam-Manchester...and we would like to have a tour in great wall since 24 hours stopover is too long. I know he is eligible for 72 hours free entry since he's a Polish but what should I do to achieve our plans? Do I need to apply for tourist/transit visa? or can I have a stopover permit or something? pls help...

Better apply for tourist or transit visa in advance if you want to visit the Great Wall.
