Visiting Mt Emei with small children and choosing a hotel at Emei or Leshan

I'd like to visit the Panda Base, Leshan and Mt Emei. I was planning to stay 2 nights at Chengdu and 2 nights near Mt Emei or Leshan. Where is it better to stay, Leshan or Emei? Which one has the best hotels, restaurants, etc?
Also, we're traveling with a baby and a 5 year-old. Are there cable cars all along Mt Emei or will I have to do much hiking? Thanks
