About:China Transit Visa

Traveling from South Korea to South Africa via Beijing

My daughter is a South African citizen and will be travelling through Beijing on a flight from South Korea to South Africa. She will be in Beijing for under 12 hours. Her flights are with two separate companies (one with Air China from South Korea and then then with South African Airways from Beijing to South Africa). Will she need a transit visa if she has proof of South African citizenship and an onward ticket ?

Visa is not required if she will not leave the airport.

The Pullman Hotel, 3 min walk from the terminal is 'outside the airport'. Please be clear with your answers. The 'airport boundary' is the normal security post as you leave the plane. You may stay in the transit lounge, along with $14 coffee.
