Thanks for your reply. No, I haven't got a work/residence permit. I am travelling. Is there still a way to apply for China-Visa in Jakarta?0

If so, I don't think you can get it in Jakarta, and I advise you chnage to get one in Hk before entering mainland China.0

fyi: I just received an answer from the Chinese visa application service center in Jakarta. It is possible, but you have to provide a round trip flight ticket. I don't know if another flight ticket out of China also works.0
