how long should we plan to stay in Xi An, and what are some of the best places for them to visit?

You can spend about 3~4 days in this city. You should not miss those famous attractions, such as Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses, City Wall, Ancient Cultural Street of Shuyuanmen, Forest of Stone Steles Museum, Bell Tower, Big Wild Goose Pagoda, Shaanxi History Museum,  and Tang Paradise. If possible, you can go to climb the Mt. Huashan which is famous for its natural vista of steep and narrow paths, precipitous crags and a high mountain range.
