About:China Transit Visa

Transit Visa between Shanghai and Kumming?

I am traveling from LAX to Shanghai and then to Kumming (12h layover) then to Laos. Do I need a transit visa for my trip?

If these two stopovers are together less than 24 hours, visa is not required, but you need to apply for a stay permit from Exit and Entry Frontier Inspection office when you arrive at Shanghai airport.
